Armed Forces Band Enthralls Music Lovers at India Gate

Armed Forces Band Enthralls Music Lovers at India GateNEW DELHI: On Saturday music lovers in the Capital were serenaded by bands of the Army, the Navy and the Air Force at the sprawling India Gate lawns.

The musical show was aimed at attracting visitors to the Defense pavilion at Pragati Maidan during the fortnight-long India International Trade Fair-2007 that begins on November 14, the event featured a live performance by the Army military band, in which drummers and bagpipers played traditional tunes from the North-East States.

The band also played national, traditional and martial tunes that were music to the ears of the listeners.

The event also highlighted the fact that the Indian Armed Forces are not only doing their basic duty of securing borders in the North-East States but also undertaking humanitarian work like developing the basic infrastructure in the “Seven Sisters”(the seven states of the North-East namely Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura). Overall the event was an amalgamation of the activities of the Armed Forces and also showcased the rich flora and fauna of the region.
For the upcoming IITF, the Defense pavilion which showcases the might of the Indian armed forces as well as providing career guidance has chosen the theme “Defenders of the Dawn” because the sun rises from the east. Folk martial arts performances from the North-East were well appreciated by the audience.
