It’s been two years since Athena was launched and, while the club has lost some of its snob appeal, it still remains one of those places that has a strict check at the entrance to ensure a certain kind of crowd get access. In fact there are clearly demarcated ‘General’, ‘VIP’, and ‘VVIP’ areas at the club. Wednesdays and weekends are the ideal days to spot the city’s page 3 crowd but make sure you get here well after 10pm since that is when the action starts.
The place has 3 bars – the first is a long rectangular bar that runs across the entrance, the second is next to the dance floor and the third at the VIP lounge. There has also been a recent addition in the form of a new ‘members only’ section called The Buddha Bar. One of the best features of this club is the music, with regular DJ nights, comprising DJs from all across India, a regular feature.
The drinks and food menu are nothing much to write about, especially the food menu. Still, good music and a very good crowd make Athena a great place to chill out on a Saturday night.
