Welcome Guest
Daulat Ram College, a premier women’s-only college of the Delhi University, was founded in 1960. Originally called Pramila College, it was later renamed Daulat Ram College after the founder educationist Daulat Ram Gupta. With an enrolment of over 2,000 students, the college has 19 departments along with a faculty that is highly qualified and experienced, a majority of them with doctoral qualification and some of them guiding students at post graduate and doctoral levels.
Apart from providing an arena for the intellectual and cultural expressions, life at Daulat Ram College is also an experience in development of democratic spirit, a sense of community and intellectual maturity. The secular and cosmopolitan character of the college is reflected in students of different communities and from different parts of India and abroad who join this college every year. Over the last few years, the college has had foreign students from countries including Mauritius, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Mongolia, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, USA, Fiji, Korea, Indonesia, China and Greece.
The college has one of the best students' hostels for women in the entire Delhi University with an intake capacity of around 125 students. Open only to the undergraduate students, the hostel’s sylvan surroundings, well maintained interiors and homely atmosphere is a virtual home away from home for students coming from far off places.
The College offers Honours as well as Pass courses in Commerce, Science and Arts streams. Admissions are strictly on the basis of marks secured in the Senior Secondary High School examination as the college declares a cut-off list for admission to various undergraduate courses every year. The application forms for admissions to the current year are available at the moment and the last date for submissions is 15th June 2007.
