Welcome Guest
The Mud fort, Kuchesar, situated at a distance of just 80 kms from New Delhi (on the Delhi-Moradabad Road), forms an ideal weekend getaway for Delhites. The Mud Fort informs one of the chequered history of the Jats who vied with the Sikhs, Marathas, Rohillas & Rajputs as well as French adventurers and the East India Company, to fill the vacuum of the declining Mughal power.
The Mud Fort of the Jats of Kuchesar was built in the mid-18th century with seven turrets as a defence against British cannon attack, and a wide moat was dug to create the ramparts. Its main palace sits atop a large bastion overlooking gardens on three sides and the ruins of a replica of Robert Clive's Calcutta house to its west.
Some of the activities one could indulge in include playing games like cards, chess, and carrom board, reading books in the library, bird watching or playing badminton. Alternatively one could venture outside to the banks of Brijghat, 24 kms away on the holy Ganges, which makes an interesting picnic outing among fields of sugarcane and mango orchards. Guest can also enjoy horse riding and swimming at The Mud Fort.
