ABOUT RED RIBBON EXPRESS MOVEMENT
AIDS is one of the biggest tormentors between us and is a cause of serious concern. One of the main reasons behind its increase is that of lack of knowledge between the masses especially the people living in rural areas and villages deep inside the metro cities. Although many people are involved in various campaigns to create awareness and provide the proper information about the same but their reach is not catchable at the root level i.e. villages and rural areas which are most affected. Keeping in mind the same Autonomous body of Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sport, Govt. of India – Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) came up with a unique idea of its kind 'The Red Ribbon Express', which immediately got the support from National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), Rajeev Gandhi Foundation (RGF) and with inputs from Indian Railways, Department of Culture, Red Cross and youths of National Service Scheme, 'The Red Ribbon Express' was sent on a yearlong tour (1st Dec.'07) of the country with flag off by Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi.
