Welcome Guest
Diwali season is over but the celebrations aren’t. The excitement lingers on and the Delhi movie buffs have plenty of choices when they head for the theaters this weekend. They are in for a treat, really, with the film industry on a roll after Om Shanti Om and Saawariya. The city is flush with disposable income due to the booming economy, while star-struck people are flush with numerous films. Now that Hollywood has taken its first step into Bollywood with Saawariya, the dividing line between Hollywood and Bollywood has begun to get blurred. Both film industries are serving us some really exciting fare this weekend.
Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal – Known more as Goal, this movie is set in Southall and sports a top notch cast, which includes John Abraham, Bipasha Basu, Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani. Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, Goal does its bit to keep sports in the limelight after Chak De India. The film tells the story of the Southall United football Club, which is up against its worst crisis as it grapples with problems like no money, no sponsors and an eviction notice. The players must win the Combined Counties Football League to save their club. Do watch the movie to know whether they manage to do it or not.
Elizabeth – The Golden Age – Directed by noted Indian director Shekhar Kapur, the movie is follows on the footsteps of Da Vinci Code, as far as controversies are concerned. The film is being released with a disclaimer and no cuts, despite protests from the Catholic Church. Some reviewers have described the movie as ostentatious and full of wild energy. But what nobody can deny is that Elizabeth is a movie with an interesting momentum and a serious storyline with present day undertones.
Beowulf – The highlight of Beowulf is that it has been produced through a new technology that was used in the Polar Express. The process digitizes the actors’ expressions and adds new nuances to the performances. The film may not be consistent but it definitely adds a new dimension to motion picture technology and shows where movies might be headed in the future.
