The Gala Party Scene in Delhi

Delhiites do not need any reason or an occasion to hold parties. Why wait so long for your birthday, the Valentine Day or the New Year’ Day to hold a bash for your family and friends? ‘Kal ho na ho'- tomorrow may or may not come. Why not follow your heart’s desire for a party right today and create an occasion for it?

Artist Illoosh Ahluwalia did exactly that. When asked by a guest why she was holding a party, she replied, she was not sure. It was probably to celebrate the lovely weather or just to go for a get-together with friends. She could not conceive any theme for her party. Only wonderful weather was incentive enough to throw a bash.. She arranged to get some children to perform specially for the guests. The group of children called the Fida Family was trained by Firoz Haither.

There can be no party if there is no dance. The guests comprised of both the young and old. While the younger lot of guests started to dance the moment music started playing, the older ones with young hearts were carried away just by the sight of the young crowd and started tapping their feet. The star attraction at the party was the former Jammu and Kashmir C.M Farooq Abdullah. He said that he loved the children’s dance and was impressed by their skills.

The young guests displayed remarkable talent in solo and group dances. Some couples danced to both English and Hindi numbers. Audience were enraptured by the scintillating dance performance given by Sahiba and Deepak on ‘Beedi Jalai le’.
The other notable participants from the Delhi’s elite circuit were the great Indian kathak dancer Uma Sharma, dance trainer Firoz Haider, the journalist-diplomat Bhaichand Patel, Rajyalakshmi, Sudip Roy and Ajay Bhambi,

Yet another party was held at the residence of the French Ambassador Jerome Bonnafont to mark the launch of the Bouvet-Ladubay wines in India. The guests were treated to a rare selection of wines. Kamal Sabri set the mood with his soothing music. Among the distinguished guests were Vijay K Rekhi, the president of the United Spirits Ltd, chief winemaker Patrice Monmousseau with his daughter Juliette, the chief winemaker and business head Abhay Kewadkar.

The other notable guests included Angela and Yannick Poupon, the well-known TV journalist Nalini Singh, Shovana and Herbert, Amy Arora, Vandana Singh, Jocelyne Langenier, Laura and Jeroen Roodenburgm Paerre Cardin and Ashish Soni. Ashish Soni looked more conspicuous because of his changed appearance. He has cut his hair real short. He said that quite a number of people had passed by him without recognizing him. A wonderful make over indeed!
