A Work from the ExhibitA Work from the Exhibit

Here’s some great news for art lovers in the capital – from February 9th a weeklong exhibition titled 'Andaaz-e-Bayaan Aur' by noted artist Sabia gets underway. This exhibition will present a series of works that have been inspired by Mirza Ghalib and will comprise an eclectic mix of oils on canvas and water-colors on paper.

Sabia is the first Indian painter to be doing an exclusive painting exhibition on Mirza Ghalib and each work art of created by her for this exhibition is based on a piece of prose/sher of Ghalib and literally translates the verse into a painting. According to Sabia, through these paintings she has made an attempt to highlight the cultural glimpses of Ghalib's time and the tone and tenor of his poetry.

Famous for his heart rending poetry, Mirza Ghalib was also the father of Urdu prose and has written truly melodious ghazals that are loved and heard even today, because of their intensity and emotion, which can be felt and empathized by anyone who understands the intricacies of the language.

The Venue: Visual Arts Gallery, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi

The Dates: February 9th - 15th, 2007
