IGNOU

Indira Gandhi National Open University was established in 1985 with the aim of providing cost-effective and quality education to all sections of the society, including those living in remote and far-flung areas of the country. In the 22 years since its inception, IGNOU has carved a niche for itself among the prime educational institutions in the country and today boasts of being the largest Open University and the fifth largest University in the World.

IGNOU is a Central University established by an Act of Parliament and its Degrees/Diplomas/Certificates are recognized by all the members of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and are at par with Degrees / Diplomas / Certificates of all Indian Universities / Deemed Universities. Today it serves the educational aspirations of about 1.5 million students in India and 35 countries abroad through 11 Schools of Studies and an elaborate network of 58 regional centres , 7 sub- regional centres , 1400 study centres, and 41 overseas centres.

IGNOU also acts as a national resource centre and, more importantly, functions as an apex body to promote and maintain standards of distance education. The University has its presence in 35 countries and the Commonwealth of Learning has recognised it as one of its centres of excellence. It offers academic programmes that lead to certificates, diplomas and degrees and it also develops and produces courses for delivery through open learning and distance education mode.

IGNOU has several graduate courses including BA, B Com, B Sc, B Ed, etc. These courses are usually offered in the July session and the students should refer to the Admission Notification that is released before the specified program session. The last date for submission of Application form for the programmes is also mentioned in this notification. Printed Application Booklet can be obtained from any IGNOU Regional Center / Study Center. Alternatively, it can also be download from the IGNOU Website.
