Welcome Guest
The Imperial Hotel at Janpath has one of the best collections of British art in India and is aptly known as the 'Museum Hotel'. The hotel has preserved original works of prominent colonial painters like William Simpson, William Hodges, Thomas and William Daniells, Emily Eden, etc. The hotel also has the largest collection of land war gallantry awards on display.
Dedicating each floor of the hotel to an artist whose works decorate the rooms and corridors, the hotel has three main art galleries and a rare collection of life size oil paintings of the Princely Rulers of India. The not-to-be-missed feature of the hotel is the Royal Ballroom, which has a huge and imposing oil painting by Bourne and Shepard titled 'The Durbar of the Nawab of Maler Kotla'.
Exquisite Persian hand-knotted carpets, pieces of original furniture from antique to art deco, wood engravings, and aquatints belonging to the late 17th century are some other prized possessions of the hotel. There is also a souvenir shop within the museum premises where visitors can purchase key chains, t-shirts and chinaware.
