NEW DELHI: Now here comes some good news for all those aspiring to be radio jockeys inspired by the munna bhai flick and ready to welcome their morning by saying good morning Mumbai.
With the mushrooming of FM radio in the country especially in metro cities – a career in this industry has become very lucrative and promising for many youngsters. Delhi University’s Institute of Home Economics hopes to cash on in this trend by offering short-term certificate course in radio jockeying.
The institute will charge a fee of Rs. 4500 from girls of the institute and Rs.5500 from outside students including boys. The course will be of 50 hours duration spread over 4 months, to impart valuable tips and experience the institute will invite some of the top RJ’s from different stations. The course will be conducted in a state of the art studio.
The students of this short term course will master pronunciation, vocal exercises, news reading, microphone rehearsals, production techniques and editing. Further at the end of the course the institute will also award students as the best RJ’s in Hindi and English respectively.
According to the head of the department conducting the course it was entirely students’ ideas to come up with this course. The course will not only prepare students for careers in radio industry but also impart communication skills which will improve their personalities.
The response from the students for this course has been overwhelming, for the first batch starting September 1, they have more than 32 students.
