Welcome Guest
Recently a musical evening 'Shringar' was organised by Facets at India Habitat Centre where the Jugalbandi of Classical Music and Kathak by Sunanda Sharma (Sr. Disciple of Girija Devi) and Saswati Sen (Sr. Disciple of Pt. Birju Maharaj) created magical waves and left Delhiites spellbound.
The evening started with stupendous solo performance by Saswati Sen, seeing her performance everyone was amazed with her skills and training that she has been receiving from Pt. Birju Maharaj. He was feeling very proud during the evening as his disciple was at her best.
After Saswati Sen, it was left to Sunanda Sharma to continue the magic of classical music and she was also at her musical best. She started her performance with Raga Purvi, 'aayo bhanwro ras le gayo maai…' in bara khayal. She made her presence felt with another evening of brilliance.
But it was not enough for Delhiites as they anxiously waited for the moment of Jugalbandi by two of the most prominent classical artists and soon the moment arrived as the history was re-written on the stage. It all belonged to Sur-Laya-Taal of Sunanda Sharma and the magical adaa and abhinaya of Saswati Sen, enjoyed by each and every single person present there.
The Jugalbandi started with a thumri in raga Misra Khamaj, 'chhavi dikhla ja saawaria dhyan lago mohe tera…' followed by a Kajri, 'kahanwa mano o radha rani…' and the finale was a Holi, 'rang darungi nand ke lalan pe…'.
On this occasion Pt. Birju Maharaj, Rajan Mishra, Ritesh Mishra, Alka Singh (founder Facets), renowned painter Sanjay Bhattacharya & singer Meeta Pandit were spotted enjoying one of the unforgettable evenings of Indian Classical Music and Dance.
Alka Singh was pleased with the feedback of the audience. She said, 'Facets' is an organisation engaged in promotion of arts, crafts and music, In particular, the organisation seeks to locate talented artists, craftsmen and performers in different fields and to provide them with a creative ambience for them to display their skills, interact with discerning audiences, members of the media and public.
