Neemrana Fort and Palace

Neemrana Fort and Palace

Just 122 kms away from Delhi on the majestic Delhi-Jaipur highway – probably one of the best highways of the country is the Neemrana Fort and Palace - providing a unique insight into the heritage and royal life of Rajasthan.   Built in 1464 by Raja Rajdeo, the Neemrana Fort is situated on a hill top, hidden in a horseshoe structure amid the age old Aravali range - hill system of northern India, running northeasterly for 560 kms through Rajasthan state.  From its hill top location the Neemrana Fort Palace provides a breathtaking view of the Aravali mountain range as well as of the town of Alwar. The fort is spread over 25 acres and has ten layers of construction is a fine and rare example of the traditional Rajasthani architecture. Neemrana derives its name from one of the local chieftain named Nimola Meo, who was defeated by the Chauhans in a battle – to honor the bravery shown by Nimola Meo, the place is Neemrana. Also Neemrana had been the 3 rd capital of the descendants of Prithviraj Chauhan III, who was killed in battle by Mohammad Ghori in 1192 AD. Before being turned to a fort and palace resort the Neemrana fort palace was in a pretty bad shape and its glory was meticulously restored and turned into a heritage hotel in 1986- probably one of the finest heritage property in India.  The Neemrana Fort and Palace has rooms suiting every pocket – the room rate at this heritage property ranges from Rs. 1600 to Rs.16000. The rooms are furnished with an eclectic mix of traditional Indian and colonial furniture, antiques and objects d'art. This heritage Hotel has all the modern amenities which a visitor expects from a top class hotel.   The Neemrana Fort Palace does allow general public to view the public areas of this magnificent Fort Palace by paying a fee of Rs. 200 per head for 2 hours, between 9 am & 5 pm only.  If you want to experience royalty and heritage then a visit to Neemrana Fort and Palace is must. Address: Village Neemrana, District Alwar, Rajasthan 301705, IndiaTel: (From Delhi 951494) (STD - 01494) 246006, 246007, 246008Fax: 01494 - 246005
