Welcome Guest
Sparkle 2007-2008, the eighteenth edition of the inter-society sports tournament, organized by the Federation of Group Housing Societies of I.P. Extension, once again sparkled with children of different age groups displaying their sporting skills in different sports. You never know, some of them, as claimed by one of the residents, might reach national and international level. The inter-society sports tournament were played for about a month from December 22, 2007 and culminated on January 19, 2008 drew just not participants but also cheerleaders.
The end of the sports event was done in style with a fancy dress competition and cultural programs. There were little ones dressed as balloon sellers urging people to buy their balloons; guide, informing tourists about wonderful India. Another child personified pollution and said: "I am pollution. Pollution is of three types—water, air and noise and all are harmful." It seemed to be an interesting way of creating awareness about the harm of pollution in a playful manner. And the most interestingly dressed was the little child of about 5 years who entered the stage as a crime reporter. Taking a cue from a channel, he said: "I am a Sansani Crime reporter; chain se sona hai to jaag jao."
Residents of more than 118 societies located in I.P. Extension participated in the games that lasted for about a month at different venues in I.P. Extension. Nearly 2,500 children took part in various sports that included badminton, carrom, chess, table tennis and lawn tennis. There were several categories like junior, sub-junior, senior and veterans.
