Bukhara: The finest Mughlai restaurant

Delhi is a mix of various cultures and, therefore, offers a wide bouquet of cuisines. With Delhi folks becoming more and more adventurous about what they eat, the city now offers mouthwatering cuisines from across the globe. However, the specialty is still the Mughlai cuisine and the national capital prides itself in having some of the world’s best Mughlai restaurants. The Mughals invaded India in the fifteenth century and ruled for almost four hundred years. Delhi has been greatly influenced by the Mughals, which is evident from people’s love for the Mughlai cuisine.

The Bukhara, which is renowned for its excellent food and service, is in the ITC Maurya Sheraton hotel. It was rated as ‘the best Asian restaurant’ by the Restaurant Magazine, UK in 2007.

With stone walls, tables that look like logs and cushion-covered stools, the restaurant has a rather rustic ambience. Instead of table napkins, the restaurant offers large bibs, which you must wear to completely enjoy the meal! The service is courteous and prompt.

While all the dishes are remarkable, the most popular ones are the Sikandari Raan, Murgh Malai Kebab, Chicken Darbari, Dal Dakshin, Dum ki Khumb, Paneer Darbari and Paneer Mushroom Kofta. You should end your meal with some delicious Khubani ka Meetha.

The Bukhara restaurant not only attracts a number of Indian celebrities, but has also catered to former US President Bill Clinton and his daughter Chelsea. Even Putin expressed his desire to dine thrice a day at the Bukhara during his visit to Delhi.

Going by Indian standards, the restaurant is expensive. But when you see it as among the world’s top fifty, the restaurant is not too exorbitant.
