Dark Toned Women- You’re Beautiful!

Bipasha Basu
Bipasha Basu

In the words of Rabindranath Tagore “however dark she is, her black eyes are as radiant and bright as deer”. This statement justifies that women with dark complexion can also look elegant and beautiful in all aspects. Today the perception of beauty has changed and dark-skin is also getting its share of recognition. Cosmetic companies also understood the fact that beauty products should be manufactured according to all the variants of complexion. It’s a fact that color of the skin doesn’t matter but beauty from deep inside matters. Naomi Campbell, Janet Jackson our very own Bipasha Basu, Kajol, Nandita das are all dusky beauties having wonderful features and impressive persona. But one thing that should be kept in mind is that dark skin needs a proper makeup and care. Here we are putting up some make-up tips for dark complexion women.

Dark-skin make-up

  • Its good to clean the skin with a good cleanser so as to remove all the dust from the face. Rub an ice cube all over the face and pat dry the skin. Apply a good concealer to hide blemishes and scars, if any.
  • Dark skin is less prone to blackheads, pimples and pigments as compared to fair skin. But skin should be protected from the sun. In order to give a protective layer to the skin, apply an effective sunscreen lotion before starting the make-up. An even-toned skin can become glowing by putting foundation as the base of make-up. For oily skin, cream foundation would be better but for dry skin a cream based or liquid foundation would work. On dark skin always use the shade darker then the color of skin otherwise it would look patchy and unsuitable. Avoid pinkish foundation.
  • After applying foundation always use a very light bronze dusting powder to give an even look to your skin. Its also reduces the extra glow from the face that comes due to liquid foundation.
  • Copper color and Almond Brown mascara would be the best option for the dark-skin women. They can also use moist eye shadows of the same color or sea green and bronze color with a hint of metallic shade at the end-tip of the eyelashes. It would be well enough to add a touch of glamour to your make-up. Thick shaped eyebrows are a strict no.
  • Lipsticks for the dark-skin women should be far away from the shades like deep pink, mauve and plum. Better choice would be peach color with little highlights of golden color in the center of the lips. Full wine-red color with glitter and gloss would also be a winning bet!
  • Always use dark shades of nail-paints like red, maroon or chocolate. This would be a compliment to your makeup.

All the above tips would give a beautiful makeover to dusky women and make them a glam diva at any party. But it is also necessary to choose appropriate beauty products as health and protection of skin is foremost rather than making it beautiful from outside. A flawless, healthy and radiant skin is only able to pull-off any color and make-up. So go women, get glowing!
