Welcome Guest
Although students have tough time getting into the Delhi College of Engineering (DCE), one of the celebrated engineering colleges in the capital attached to University of Delhi, but ironically, students are not getting basic amenities they require on campus.
Authorities at DCE have turned a deaf ear to the repeated complaints related to mess food and poor hygienic conditions. According to the students studying at the college many individual complaints have been made regarding but no action has been taken by concerned authorities.
To compound the matter, some of the hostels at DCE don’t even have a television set in the hostels common room which results in students missing out on important news update. Even the basic amenities like water coolers are missing, one of the floors of the DCE hostel don’t have one. The balconies of the hostel are broken – waiting for a disaster to happen and takes a long time to get them repaired.
The Hostel does boast of a campus hospital, but most of the times it’s of no help, because most of the times the campus hospital doesn’t have medicine or worse the medicines are expired forcing the students to go outside of the hostel to seek medical attention.
Now, the students union has decided to take the matter to related committee head and hostel warden and even take the matter to VC’s office.
But according to A. Bhattacharya, principal of DCE, who has just joined the college a week ago, says students are welcome to come to him and talk about their complaints. His advice to the students is to avoid the agitation approach and talk.
