Delhi Fashion Week to Sport More New Faces

The Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week is slated to be held between March 12 and 16 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. The event is to introduce the highest number of upcoming fashion designers this year. The organizers of the event insist that their show is getting increasingly more established than other such shows among both established and upcoming designers. The event, organized by the Fashion Design Council of India, attracts designers from all over the country and is also touted to be the launch pad for aspiring models.

The auditions for the “New Faces Going Places” attracted participants from India as well as abroad. The judges were looking for great looks, poise, personality and carriage. The foreign faces that made the cut included models from Ukraine, Romania and Argentina. The judges included eminent faces, such as Abhishek Gupta, Hemant Khandelwal, Ranna Gill, Malini Ramani, Anju Modi and choreographer Asha Kochhar. Out of the 55 new faces that competed for a place in the event, only 10 would be able to showcase their talent in March.

The famous designer Vikram Phadnis has decided to skip the Mumbai event and plans to showcase his 60 designs collections in the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week in Delhi. He would also be concentrating on mainstream designs this season, a departure from his earlier ostentatious and bright designs. Also, he is one of the two designers invited to the Dubai fashion week scheduled after the Delhi event.
