Welcome Guest
There was a time when it was difficult for outstation students and working professionals to find paying guest accommodation in the capital. But now there are paying guest houses all over Delhi and their number is increasing. There are advertisements in newspapers both from the providers and the seekers of PG accommodation. The preferred areas for PG homes are Lajpat Nagar, South EX, Greater Kailash, Malviya Nagar in New Delhi and Gurgaon.
The seekers of PG houses include both males and females. They prefer semi-furnished single rooms, with or without meals but with curtains, bed, almirah, study table, chair and attached western style bathroom. The rents are usually negotiated according to the quality, area and location of the PG house.
The young seekers for PG houses usually hail from rural areas. They want to migrate to Delhi to make it big. The demand for PG houses has created big business opportunities in metros these days. PG house business, considered risky some time back, is catching like wild fire in Delhi. You just need to take a walk in any colony and chances are you will find every third home providing PG accommodation.
A scarce commodity only four- five years back, PG houses are popping up like mushrooms all over the metro. The PG house business is booming like never before. You can find a PG accommodation that suits your budget.
The PG house business was started as an experiment to provide some work to the idle housewives when they were not engaged in their routine domestic chores. The success of the idea has caught the imagination of the businessmen as well. Now the real estate brokers, old couples, shopkeepers and almost any one who has some vacant space has commercialized it to provide PG accommodation.
If you want a PG house in South Delhi, you should be ready to shell out Rs 3,000 to 6,000 depending upon the facilities you seek. The same accommodation could be had for a mere Rs.3, 000 to 3,500 per month only a few years back. The rents have heavily escalated these days, more so if you want the entire room to yourself. The cost of PG accommodation should not be a constraint for woman students and employees as it provides them better security and comfort than the rented flats.
