Nainital – A glittering jewel of Himalayas

Known for its scenic beauty and beautiful lakes, Nainital is truly a tourist’s delight. Nainital (situated in the state of Uttarakhand) is just 304 kms away from Delhi, the capital of India and approximately 400 kms from Lucknow . The easiest way to reach Nainital is by train. Kathgodam is the nearest railway station to Nainital and well connected with Delhi, Lucknow and Calcutta. A train from Delhi can take you to Kathgodam, “The Gateway of Kumaon Hills” and one hour drive (either by bus or by taxi) from there to Nainital would be well enough to gladden your hearts. The whole route is surrounded by lofty hills and greenery and one feels as if it’s a paradise on earth.

The splendid beauty of Nainital is incomparable with any other hill station. Exquisite lakes and charming forest trails are the major attractions of the place. Cool air of mountains, greenery all around and picturesque scenery would be able to rejuvenate your minds. Nainital has many tourist spots that make it a perfect holiday destination. Star attraction of Nainital is Naini Lake. Many mythological stories are attached with it and the famous Naini temple is situated at the shores of the lake. The view of snow capped mountains holds you spell bound. The environment here is very refreshing and chilly too. Cable car is the most adventurous way to reach this place. This is one of the best places for photography. After having a cup of tea and some pakoda’s from the small snack shops you can move further to Naina Peak which is known as the highest point in Nainital. The serenity of the place is exceptional. From here the proud standing hills of Nepal can be viewed but binoculars are really needed. The cold breeze and the scenic beauty of the place help a lot to overcome your tiredness.

Religious souls can get a lot of peace and calm in the temples of Nainital. Naina Devi is the most frequently visited temple. Hanuman Garhi is also one of the famous temples of Nainital. A visit there would be very peaceful for your heart and soul. And for those who are fond of plants must give a visit to Sanjay Park, The Botanical Garden. Here one can find the rare species of plants and that would be a different experience. After such a fabulous tour of the city one can take a stroll at the Mall Road. It is in the heart of city and famous as a shopping and eating hub.
