Admission to IIT is open for all students who have completed that higher secondary schooling or 10+2 as it is called in India. All students seeking admission need to appear for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). Details of the JEE exams are available at the JEE Office in Delhi. However, given the vast number of hopefuls for the IIT courses, only those excelling in school and at the JEE level are likely to obtain a seat at this premier institute. Foreign students applying to IIT can either receive admission through a cultural exchange fellowship programme, the self-financing programme or an MOU between IIT and the student’s current university or college. There also is a scholarship programme for foreign students applying for the M. Tech. postgraduate course.
