Rajbhansi Folk Paintings by Nihar Majumder

11/04/2007 - 11:00
17/04/2007 - 19:00

An exhibition of Sub Himalayan paintings by Nihar Majumder from Jalpaiguri.

The artist has used the image of ‘Masan’ and his sixteen ‘mudras’ as the subject of his paintings successfully transforming the traditional folk form into a modern concept and motif for his canvas. Masan, ‘Masan’ , a demi god of evil is crafted by local artisans called Deo-mali from cork and are worshipped throughout the year. This promises to be an exhibition with a mark of excellence and an astounding combination of traditional and the modern styles.

Venue: ART GALLERY ( INDV. ARTIST ), IIC Annexe, India International Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi-110003
