Welcome Guest
NEW DELHI: Come winter and Delhi becomes host to many vintage car rallies where these beauties from the past showcase their grandeur and mettle but this Friday everything was the same except the cause. The cause was to raise resources for the underprivileged children of the society.
The rally which is into its second years is known as “Heritage Hill Drive” was organized by the Automotive Heritage Trust and was flagged off by former Army Chief J. J. Singh from Le Meridien hotel.
In this vintage car rally for a cause more than 25 classic and vintage beauties graced the road for the event. The vintage cars taking part in the rally included cars such as Rolls-Royce, Jaguar, Cadillac, Ford, Buick and Austin. This rally is not like other vintage car rallies where they complete a specified number of kilometers and ends within the state, this vintage rally is inter-state meaning the vintage beauties will drive through Delhi, Karnal, Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab before terminating at picturesque Kasauli in Himachal Pradesh.
The rally is being sponsored by Silvertone Motors in alliance with SOS Children’s Villages of India. The main purpose and aim of holding the vintage car rally is to raise and generate awareness about underprivileged children in the country and raising resources for the same cause.
According to SOS president S. Sandilya, “We are overwhelmed by the continued support of our benefactors. We believe that with support from many good people we will be able to expand our work, reach out to many more children in need and bring them under the care of our Trust.”
For the sponsors of the vintage rally Silvertone Motors it was a matter of great honor to organize an event for the sole purpose of charity. According to them “We have always been supportive of such events and this was also an opportunity for car enthusiasts to get an eyeful of vintage cars.”
NGO behind the rally
