Sports stadiums in Delhi

Hockey"One of the redeeming things about being an athlete is redefining what is humanly possible." Lance Armstrong might have said these words, but this implies to every sportsman. India has time and again produced many word- class players. Many of such distinguished achievers have been from Delhi like Virender Sehwag, Ashish Nehra.

Delhi has been a venue for many national and international events. The Jawharlal Nehru Stadium and the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium are one of the largest sports complexes in South Asia. Feroz Shah Kotla is renowned for many great matches played. Many big and small stadiums across the city have a distinction of producing many famous sports personalities. The Ambedkar Stadium at Delhi Gate is renowned for football. This fascinating city accommodates all sports. A few distinguished stadiums in Delhi are as follows: -

  • Feroz Shah Kotla (Cricket)

Bahadur Shah Zhafar Marg, New Delhi - 110002

Feroz Shah Kotla StadiumKotla staged its first Test in the 1948-49 when the mighty West Indies under John Goddard took on India for a five Test series and the ground has produced some really good performances. In 1969-70, Bedi and Prasanna combined to spin India to a famous seven wicket win over Australia, the duo picking 18 wickets between themselves. Feroz shah Kotla has also been a batsmen's paradise with many premiere teams of the world scoring a lot of runs. Despite all these events, the crowning glory of all the feats at the Kotla came about when Anil Kumble became the second bowler in Test history to capture all ten wickets against Pakistan.

Well I am impressed and that's because I know that India is not that popular for regular sports, they have their own sports. These stadium pictures impressed me because they are full with sport fans and that's something I didn't know so far. It looks like sports tickets sell pretty well.
