The Super Rich of Delhi Brace for a Show Off Tournament … Rest of India to join in later

The holiday spots near Delhi have always been well known for … what else, holidays. Trust the entrepreneurs to begin where your imagination ends, and they manage to come up with something that is beyond even fantasy. Well known businessmen, including Delhi’s very own DLF and some other entrepreneurs, have come up with an idea that allows you to have your very own home at premier vacation destinations around Delhi. It is an attractive concept, which is likely to be replicated all over India once these entrepreneurs succeed at their maiden attempt. DLF, in fact, is looking to start one such project in as far as Goa.

Anyway, Delhiites are renowned for their rising disposable income and their penchant for all the good things of life. These upcoming holiday homes will be the newest additions to the current list of must-haves for city residents, apart from being a status symbol for the owners. The plans afoot right now are targeted at the super rich only, but that was the case with personal computers as well. These holiday homes might come within the reach of the common man also within a few years.

Alfred Ford, the great grandson of Henry Ford, has decided to start his $350 million project at a place near Manali, which is being called the largest foreign direct investment in Indian tourism so far. The 115-acre project is named Himalayan Ski Village and those interested in buying a property here will have to shell out more than $1 million each. The management is going all out to ensure that there is always a vacation atmosphere here, complete with nightlife and music, which will include performances from international stars as well. Another such project, a joint venture between the Turner Morrison Group and Khattar Holdings of Singapore, is all set to come up in Rishikesh, where each villa will be sold at a whopping Rs. 3.5 crores each.
