The most important people in Indian cricket aren’t players by a long chalk, though they are the ones in the public eye, based on whose performance a billions hearts either swell in joy or deflate in despair – rather it is an opaque body of extremely powerful me sitting on unimaginable amounts of money, who are accountable to nobody, who may or may not have any particular knowledge of the actual game but always have strong political affiliations or at least patronage, and who are today the most powerful group in international cricket – I speak of course of the BCCI (Board for Cricket Control in India).
