We have had enough ‘swayamwars’ and ‘dulhan
le jayenge’ sorts of reality shows and now reality TV has gone ahead and actual
culminated in an actual marriage on a TV show. InRahul
Dulhaniya Le Jayega Rahul Mahajan has gone on to wed his bride of
choice; Dimpy Ganguly.
I was hoping to be able to formulate a well directed and thought provoking polemic
about the regressive serials that populate the TV channels; however, since I am confoundedly
ignorant about this genre on TV programming, I came up with zilch! I found that
I have only nice things to say about them; I mean look at all the good they do
for society:
If there was one truly fine and memorable short telefilm
that emerged during the dark Doordarshan days, it was Mile Sur Mera Tumhara or
Ek Sur, the 1988 national integration film made by Lok Seva Sanchar Parishad. Composed
by Ashok Patki, co-composed & arranged by Louis Banks, written by Piyush
Pandey it was directed by Suresh Mullick.
Till date we believed that marriages were made in heaven. Surprisingly now marriages are also made on ‘Idiot Box’. After “Rakhi ka Swayamvar” last year, NDTV Imagine is now presenting the Swayamvar- Season 2. This time the groom is Rahul Mahajan- who once again claims to be an eligible bachelor after divorce with his wife, Shweta.
MTV is back with the new seasons of its most awaited shows Roadies 7 and Splitsvilla 3 and the reality meter has risen up. This time more deadly and sinful since its beginning.
Vindu Dara Singh has been crowned as the winner of Bigg Boss Season-3. Defeating all odds, he won the challenge in great style. With this, Bigg Boss-3 bid adieu to audiences. Advertisement campaigns have been the lifeline of Indian consumerism. There have been numerous instances when a campaign became the identity of brand itself. A very recent example is the “ZooZoo” campaign of Vodafone.
Perhaps inspired by the Aamir ad phenomenon, Shah Rukh Khan has also recently abandoned his carefully preserved designer image to play an old man, a frisky old man playing Romeo to his aged Juliet. And if there is an upcoming ad that is really grabbing attention, it is Kareena Kapoor’s upcoming advert where she will be playing a Spider woman/ Cat woman / Wonder woman kind of character.
So finally we have the answer for the question that was being asked by audience. Who would win Lux Perfect Bride?? Rumpa has won the crown and also got a cheque worth Rs. 25 lacs as the winning prize. It can’t be denied that it was a difficult task for her given the popularity of Priyanka on the show. Hitesh and Rumpa took “Seven Pheras” according to the Hindu rituals and got themselves tied in the wedlock.
In the first episode, Swati Singh discovered in her hypnotic trance that in a previous life she died in a plane crash which is what causes her present extreme fear of flying. And it wasn’t just any plane crash; she was able to recall that the plane crash happened to her as part of a contingent of 46 sailors on board the Air India Flight to New York in 1966; Dr Homi Bhabha being one of the passengers.
So just hold your excitement for one more week. In the coming episodes you would see preparations for marriage being done by Mother of the Week i.e. Rajbir’s mother. We also hope audience would get a chance to see some pre-marriage ceremonies like Ring Ceremony and Ladies Sangeet. Let’s see what excitement and surprise is due towards the end of this entertaining show.
With tears flowing out of her eyes and her body shivering, Priyanka said that she can’t name Rajbir for obvious reasons… She added that Rumpa and Hitesh were moving towards the bond of marriage and this left her with no other choice but to nominate Yash and his mother.
Hearts start beating fast… People start chewing the nails of their fingers. Everyone has just one question on their minds that which groom along with his mother would leave the show today?? Suspense gets unbearable and suddenly tension is replaced by laughter…
With fathers coming to support their daughters, this Battle Royale is expected to get more spicy and entertaining. Whereas till now the grooms made and broke several hearts (on the advice of their mothers), audience are eager to see if the entry of fathers (of brides) would prove to be a tit for tat to the grooms…
Silkina has been eliminated from the show. With tears in her eyes and mixed emotions on her face, Silkina left the stage. Gorgeous Silkina entered the show just last week. Judges commented that she looked very honest with her thoughts and words.
