Cultural festivals today form an integral part of a student’s college life. Along with the academics and the course curriculum, for the overall enhancement and development of a student’s personality, these festivals give an apt platform.

I was hoping to be able to formulate a well directed and thought provoking polemic about the regressive serials that populate the TV channels; however, since I am confoundedly ignorant about this genre on TV programming, I came up with zilch! I found that I have only nice things to say about them; I mean look at all the good they do for society:

The point is not whether the paintings of M F Hussain are good or bad. The point is not even whether they are insulting, or derogatory or a misuse of artistic freedom. The only point that should concern us is, do the citizens of India have a right to live in the county without fear and intimidation?

Gulal, dholak, thandai, pakwaan…all are ingredients of Holi dhamaal. With the festival of colors falling on Monday 1st March, people are excited about Holi. A long weekend is also adding fun to the celebrations. Everyone has their own plans to celebrate the festival. Over the years, the way we celebrate  has taken some twists and turns.

If there was one truly fine and memorable short telefilm that emerged during the dark Doordarshan days, it was Mile Sur Mera Tumhara or Ek Sur, the 1988 national integration film made by Lok Seva Sanchar Parishad. Composed by Ashok Patki, co-composed & arranged by Louis Banks, written by Piyush Pandey it was directed by Suresh Mullick.
