Welcome Guest
Suruchi, situated in Karol Bagh, is one of the few restaurants in Delhi offering authentic Gujarati, Rajasthani, and Mumbaiyya food. The spices used in the food here are from Gujarat and Rajasthan, thus making the much-mattered difference. Just a note of caution however - everything on offer is strictly vegetarian.
Thalis, sandwiches, chaat, vada-pav – you name it, they have it and at pocket friendly prices too. The popularity of Suruchi amongst Delhiites can be understood from the fact that it is usually packed despite the fact that Karol Bagh is choc-o-bloc with eating establishments. In an attempt to reinforce the Gujarat-Rajasthan connection, the waiters are dressed in traditional Gujarati attire.
The most popular item on the menu is the unlimited thali, which seems to be a favourite with young and old alike. There are two types of thalis – Rajasthani and Gujarati, and both are sumptuous. There are puris, dhoklas, khandvi, undhiyo, a variety of vegetables, kadhi, dal, rice papad, chutney and pickles. They also serve shrikhand and kheer as desserts. All this for just Rs 130 for a Gujarati thali and Rs 140 for a Rajasthani thali.
Besides the thalis, Suruchi also offers snacks like Bombay chaat, pav bhaji, grilled sandwiches, vada pav and dabeli. There are also Rajkot chuskies (iced lollies) made of khoya and dry fruit, which are truly delectable.
The restaurant is open from early breakfast to almost midnight so you can head there for a bite almost round the clock. Also every night, there are lac bangle-makers, mehndi-wallahs and potters sitting outside the restaurant, trying their best to attract the crowd particularly the foreign tourists.
